Port village — West coast
Kamariotissa is Samothraki's main port and the only significant ferry gateway to the island, which makes it the first and last place almost every visitor sees — a working harbour with fishing boats alongside the ferry dock, backed by a waterfront strip of tavernas, cafés, and a few shops.
It's more transit hub than destination in its own right, but it's a genuinely useful base: buses and taxis to the rest of the island start here, and the seafront tavernas serving fresh fish make it a reasonable spot for a first or last meal on the island.
The whitewashed Church of Panagia Kamariotissa near the harbour is worth a quick look while you wait for a ferry, and the waterfront is a pleasant enough place to watch the sunset if you've got a spare hour before departure.
